If the word “sisterhood” conjures up a picture of gray-haired women in frilly aprons, you are remembering an image from a time that has long passed. And Temple Beth Shalom has been without this valuable branch for nearly that long! We want you back!
If you wonder what purpose a sisterhood might serve, think about: a safe place for women to connect spiritually, to pass on many of our collective traditions; to practice social justice; to teach and learn; to serve the Jewish community here and elsewhere.
Sisterhood at its best can create an environment in which women of all ages and paths can weave a fabric of community together. Our newest congregant, Dori Cohen, dreams of creating such a rich and textured tapestry composed of the hearts and spirits of women. She invites you to join her, saying “As the collective voice of the women of Temple Beth Shalom, our mission is to enjoy, celebrate and explore spiritual and social programs together in friendship.” If this idea appeals to you, let me know and I will help Dori to start this beautiful ball rolling. Give me a call. Dorothea
