Adult Education: responsible for creating guidelines and policies governing fees and subject matter, development of curricula and production of two catalogs each year.
Archiving: appropriate preservation and storage of archival information with a view to documenting our history in perpetuity.
Campus Planning: studies our land use needs, evaluates the ways in which our campus might better support our programs, considers the possible impact of any plans on our neighbors, and recommends prudent plans of action for Board and congregational consideration.
Chevra Kadisha: volunteers perform all necessary ritual obligations when a death occurs. Participation in this group, as with the Mitzvah corps, has a positive impact on your “mitzvah score”.
Dues: recommends dues levels, subject to the approval of the Board, and grants dues relief upon request.
Finance: prepares the annual budget, establishes policy for administration of Temple funds and reports to the Board with a view to assuring that the fiduciary responsibilities of our trustees is met.
Foundation: The TBS Foundation is a separate 501( c )(3) which is designed as an endowment for Temple Beth Shalom. “The Corporation shall be operated exclusively for religious, charitable, literary, and educational purposes."
House & Grounds Committee: reviews and recommends facility needs and physical plant requirements, as well as overseeing annual maintenance. They work to keep Temple Beth Shalom safe, functional, and beautiful.
Leadership/ Nominating: identifies and prepares congregants for leadership roles at TBS. The Nominating Committee meets prior to Board elections and prepares a slate of candidates.
Library: responsible for cataloguing, maintenance and circulation of books in our Jewish libraries.
Membership: dedicated to recruiting new members, integrating members into the life of the congregation, and retaining members. The committee works to improve and enhance Temple Beth Shalom’s profile in the community.
Mitzvah Corps: A group of volunteers willing to fix and deliver meals and make home or hospital visits as necessary. Membership greatly improves an individual’s “mitzvah score”.
Outreach: Reform Judaism is committed to welcoming interfaith couples, Jews by choice, and to embracing all our member families by offering support and education. This is part of a program initiative endorsed by the Union for Reform Judaism.
Personnel: meets with members of the Board or staff depending on the nature of the issue presented and helps to facilitate a resolution.
Preschool: assists the Preschool Director in making decisions regarding tuition, staffing, and curriculum.
Religious School: Monthly meetings address such issues as discipline, curriculum, and special events such as the Latke Lunch and the Purim Carnival.
Ritual Committee: According to the TBS bylaws, this committee “works with the Rabbi in carrying out the religious activities of the congregation and plans special holiday celebrations”.
Social Action: deals with social and political issues of importance to the TBS community, the Jewish community, and the Santa Fe community in accordance with the principles of Reform Judaism.
Ways and Means: the primary focus of this committee is to institutionalize and coordinate the Temple’s fundraising efforts.
